INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

General Instruction: All the hardware for your Wingdow™ Seat attaches with the same large round washer, lock washer, thumbnut sequence. Never allow a thumbnut to bear directly against plastic--only against one of the large flat washers.

Wingdow™ Seat Assembly

Select the window your bird likes most. Clean the glass thoroughly.

Wingdow™ Seats are shipped with the perch, suction cups and legs pre-assembled in a plastic bag. Begin by installing the perch to the bottom on the inside of the seat using the two holes near the center of the base of the unit. To do so, remove the thumbnut, lock washer and one large round washer from each side of the perch assembly. After inserting the screws through the appropriate holes, replace the large round washer, then lock washer and finally the thumbnut to both sides of the perch assembly. As on all assembly units, finger tight is all that is all that is necessary. When this stage is complete, the perch with screw, plastic spacer and one large round washer will be in the inside of the seat, while the other large round washer, lock washer and thumbnut will be on the outside.

Install the rubber tipped legs to the outside of the bottom of the plastic base in the holes nearest the back (largest side). This means the thumbnut, lock washer, and large round washer will be on the inside of the unit, while the plastic spacer and black rubber leg is on outside. Notice: There will be a large round washer glued to the top of the rubber leg to keep the plastic spacer in place. These legs were designed to rest on top of the bottom sash to support most of the weight.

Hold the Wingdow™ Seat up to your window, setting the legs straddling the window lock. Note which mounting holes for the suction cups will work best to place the unit so all the suction cups will rest on the glass, not touching wood.

Unscrew the thumbnut, lock washer and 1 large round washer on each suction cup assembly. Attach the suction cup assemblies to the outside keeping the washers in the same sequence, going through the holes you selected. A large flat washer goes on either side of the plastic, then the lock washer, then the nut. Finger tight is all that is necessary. There are six suction cups for the large Wingdow™ Seat, and four for the medium and small units. Notice: The length of the assembly can be made shorter or longer by moving the nut closer to the suction cup up and down the stud screw. This adjusts the suction cups to move the Wingdow™ Seat closer to or further from the glass.

Place the unit on top of the bottom sash with the weight on the rubber feet, just over the window lock. Then firmly push in on the suction cups until they are flat on the glass. If they lose suction easily, wipe the cup with a damp cloth and re-install.

If your bird’s wings are clipped, tie a ladder to the Wingdow™ Seat so he can climb up to it easily. It might also be convenient to place it on the sill for him.

Show your bird the new perch. Encourage him to peck around and see that he is safe there. You can hang a small toy through one of the extra holes if you like, but remember the bird might use it to climb up to the top and be able to reach the wood trim. Flying birds can land on the top, but they won’t stay there, preferring the comfort of the wooden perch.

Remember to remove your Wingdow™ Seat before opening the window.

Note: DO NOT TRY TO PULL THE SUCTION CUPS OFF USING THE WINGDOW™ SEAT OR ITS PERCH. Use the little tabs on the suction cups to pry them up with your fingernail.

We recommend having the rubber feet support the weight, but we find our small and mid-sized birds are well supported by the suction cups alone when necessary. Check the suction cups for proper seal every day at feeding time. If you feel your installation needs more suction cups, you can order them from us.
